Suppression And Suspend List

Suppression prevents bad or opted-out recipients from receiving future marketing mail.

Suspend List screen

Use Contacts > Suspend List to:

  • Scan invalid domains.
  • View scan logs.
  • Clear entries.
  • Enable automatic blocking after failed emails.
  • Search recipients.
  • Delete a suspended recipient.

Auto-block failed emails

Enable auto-block when you want repeated delivery failures to suppress recipients automatically.

This protects sender reputation by reducing repeated attempts to invalid addresses.

Suppression sources

Recipients can become ineligible because of:

  • Manual suppression.
  • Unsubscribe.
  • Hard bounce.
  • Repeated failed delivery.
  • Complaint.
  • Invalid-domain scan.

PING8 should skip suppressed recipients rather than retrying them in future campaigns.

Scan invalid domains

Use Scan Invalid Domains before campaigns to identify contacts whose recipient domains are not usable.

When to remove a suppression entry

Only remove a recipient from suppression when you have confirmed:

  • The address is valid.
  • The recipient still wants mail.
  • The earlier failure was temporary or caused by a fixed DNS issue.

Compliance note

Never remove an unsubscribed recipient just to send marketing mail. Unsubscribe status should be respected.

Operational workflow

  1. Import prior suppression data before sending migrated contacts.
  2. Run invalid-domain scans before a campaign.
  3. Review new suppressions after every launch.
  4. Investigate spikes by domain or provider.
  5. Remove a suppression entry only after the recipient and cause are verified.
