Contacts
Contacts organize the people who receive campaigns.
Contact areas
| Area | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Group | Create lists and configure opt-in behavior. |
| Subscribers | Import, filter, edit, delete, and tag recipients. |
| Suspend List | Block invalid or failed recipients from future sends. |
| Tags | Build reusable segments inside groups. |
| Settings | Configure group behavior and subscription forms. |
Recommended list workflow
- Create a group.
- Configure opt-in and subscription settings.
- Import subscribers.
- Apply tags.
- Scan for invalid recipients.
- Send to a small segment first.
- Review bounces and suppression.
Before importing contacts
Prepare:
- Permission source for the list.
- Original signup or consent context.
- Group mapping.
- Tags you want to use for segmentation.
- Suppression list from your previous provider, if any.
- A sample CSV with a few rows for a test import.
Do not import unverified purchased lists. Bad list quality is one of the fastest ways to damage sender reputation.
List quality matters
PING8 can track and suppress bad recipients, but it cannot turn a poor list into a healthy one. Use permission-based contacts and remove unengaged or invalid addresses regularly.
What success looks like
- Groups are named by audience purpose, not one-off campaign.
- Subscriber status is accurate.
- Tags describe durable segments.
- Suppressed or unsubscribed contacts are not selected for marketing sends.
- A small test segment receives mail before the full audience.
