First Marketing Campaign

Use this workflow to send a campaign safely to a small, permissioned audience.

Before you start

Prepare:

  • A verified sender domain.
  • A group with one to five owned test recipients.
  • A template you have previewed.
  • A delivery engine that has passed a one-recipient test.
  • Unsubscribe behavior enabled.

Steps

  1. Open Contacts > Group and create a Test group.
  2. Open Subscribers and import owned test recipients.
  3. Open Template and create or preview the email content.
  4. Open Email Marketing > Task.
  5. Click Add Task.
  6. Select the verified From domain and sender.
  7. Choose the Test group.
  8. Select the template.
  9. Keep Unsubscribe link enabled.
  10. Enable open and click tracking only if appropriate.
  11. Select Tenant default unless you are validating a specific engine.
  12. Use Send test mail first.
  13. Confirm the test appears in logs.
  14. Click Confirm to launch to the small test group.

What success looks like

  • The task appears in the task table.
  • Progress reaches completion.
  • Success, failed, deferred, bounced, or suppressed counts update from telemetry.
  • Analytics shows provider-level results.

Common mistakes

  • Sending to a full group before testing one recipient.
  • Treating task progress as inbox placement.
  • Disabling unsubscribe for marketing mail.
  • Importing contacts without permission or status review.
